Caring for our Heavy Machinery: Our Operators’ and Mechanics’ Role in Raising the Bar

news

Between acquiring new equipment and managing the retirement of other equipment, the HEI Civil Equipment and Support Department can often experience busy seasons of transitions between incoming and outgoing heavy machinery. Throughout these busy periods, one thing becomes clear: the powerful reflection of who we are at HEI Civil.

There is a cycle of acquiring new machines to support our operation teams’ needs and machines that are retiring from our use and being brought back to our shop. Throughout this ongoing process, we can see our critical success factors in action: Quality and Care of Tools and Equipment.

When our team deems a machine “ready to retire,” it doesn’t simply get parked somewhere and forgotten. It comes to the HEI shop, where it is carefully cleaned, detailed, inspected, and prepared for its next chapter. Time after time, we’re reminded of something special, the story our equipment tells. Yes, there may be a few bumps and bruises from the daily toll of operating throughout our heavy civil projects. Still, the overall pristine condition reflects the pride and professionalism of the operators who ran it.

Through daily inspections, regular cleaning, and preventive maintenance, our teams ensure our equipment stays in top condition. That level of care doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because our operators treat their machines like the valuable assets they are. They understand that taking care of their equipment isn’t just about today’s job; it’s about protecting HEI Civil’s investment for the long haul.

When it’s time to retire equipment, our shop mechanics take the same pride and continue to raise the bar. With diligence and attention to detail at the forefront, they ensure every retiring machine represents the quality that the HEI Civil name stands for. In the used equipment market, HEI Civil machines are highly sought after for a simple reason: people know they’ve been cared for.

Because of the combined effort of our operators and mechanics, our well-used machines continue to bring top-dollar returns, a direct reflection of the culture we’ve built together.

This process is more than just about the cycles of maintenance and resale. It’s proof that when we live our core values every day and continuously raise the bar, the results speak for themselves.
